David Hockney San Francisco Opera Poster Signed. David Hockney designed the set design for 'The Rake Progress' production at the San Francisco Opera House in 1982. This poster is of a large scale painting with separate elements based on the design for Bedlam, for 'The Rakes Progress'. The set was recreated for the theatre exhibition 'Hockney Paints the Stage' at the Walker Art Centre Minneapolis 1983. The Poster is illustrated in the book 'Hockney Posters' printed by Pavillion Book Ltd page 53 and his set designs for 'The Rakes Progress' are illustrated in 'That's the way I see it, David Hockney' on pages 26-27 illustrations 14-15.
