John Bratby
Biography

John Bratby's work has seen major renewed interest in recent years, this is due to new biography's on his life and work by very highly reputable writers, high quality pieces being readily available and interest from major collectors such as Charles Saatchi.  Bratby studied at Kingston College from 1948-1950, then he went to the Royal College of Art from 1951 -1954, he would return to the Royal College to teach the new crop of emerging talent three years later.  Bratby was best known for his work in the Kitchen sink school, this movement involved it's proponents depicting images of the working class lifestyle, poetically Bratby's auction record for an oil painting was reached on a painting of a kitchen sink.  The individualistic style of Bratby makes his works instantly recognisable and sets them apart from all others in their locality.
