Patrick Procktor is one of the outstanding artists of his
generation, a member of the exceptional crop of talent to arise from the
Slade School of Art during the 1960's a crop of talent which includes
Keith Vaughan, David Hockney and Cecil Beaton. Elected Royal
Academician in 1996 this is just one of Procktor's incredible
achievements including the commission in 1986 to paint a reredos for the
St. John the Baptist's Chapel in Chichester Cathedral.
Procktor's suite of Aquatints "The China series" shows this artists
willingness to explore new avenues. Procktor went to China in 1980
and was the first European modern artist to do so after the Cultural
Revolution, the China Series suite of Aquatints are partly the product
of this bold endeavour and are some of Procktor's most sought after
Printed works today.
