Peter Blake Biography

Peter Blake's earlier works strongly featured depictions of youth
displaying their comics and badges and other symbols which held iconic
precedence at the time. From these early works Blake moved into
developing pictures of Pop stars and Film stars, becoming a pop artist
before the concept was born. His next body of work concentrated on
Wrestlers and strippers and progressed to more fictional characters born
of an incredible imagination.
Blake is best known by the public for his revolutionary design for the
cover of the Beatles 'Sergeant Pepper Lonely Hearts Club Band' Album.
Subsequently in later years he also did the cover for the hugely
successful Paul Weller Album 'Stanley Road'.
A man who has been on the cutting edge of what is so good about modern
contemporary art for so long Blake never ceases to surprise in the
direction his work will take him next
