Sir Terry Frost Biography

Born in Leamington Spa in 1915, he joined the Territorial Army and was
called up to fight in the Second World war. During a fierce battle in
Crete Frosts regiment acted as rear guard for fleeing Allied troops when
his unit was over come by the enemy and taken prisoner. Frost saw out
the remainder of the war in the Prisoner of War camp Stalag 383 in
Bavaria. Frost started to bide his time by painting while he was held
captive, it was during this time of incarceration that Frost made up his
mind that painting was what he wanted to do when the war was over. Frost
returned home and Later Married. He was advised by his art teacher to
travel to St Ives where he would eventually meet Ben Nicholson and
Barbara Hepworth. He went on to study at Camberwell under the tuition of
Victor Pasmore, and developed his own recognizable style, which is in
extreme demand in today's art world. Sir Terry Frost RA sadly died
in September 2003.
