Dame Barbara Hepworth

Beginning her long career in art through the medium of sculpture. She began her illustrious career in London in the late 1920‘s and quickly established herself as an imposing figure in the 20th Century British Art scene. She spent half her life in St Ives where she lived during World War Two and a further 29 years afterwards. Hepworth enjoyed life in St Ives, a town which has been inspirational for so many artists, she used her relaxed surroundings as a platform to create masterpieces for the national and international art communities. Hepworth remains a central figure in Britain’s art world and her legacy of work today inspires new generations of artists to greater goals.
