Arthur Boyd Australian (1920 - 1999)
Arthur Boyd (1920-1999) Was born in 1920 in Australia and worked for a period in England where he painted a series of powerful landscapes of his home land, all from memory. The figures in his paintings have recognizable traits such as the large curved noses and the large relaxed eyes. Boyd’s work screams emotion but steers clear of sentimentality. His naive style speaks volumes in it’s interpretation, the work needs not be explained by some one with a masters degree in Art Theory. The mood the paintings set surround the viewer and draws them into the painting, making them completely aware of Boyd’s intentions.
