Leon Kossoff

Leon Kossoff (1926-)

Painter born in London. He studied at St Martin's School of Art, the Royal College of Art and at the Borough Polytechnic under David Bomberg, whose expressionist style was a considerable influence on him. His subjects range from figures and portraits to landscapes, cityscapes and in particular suburban north London scenes.

An exceptional Draughtsman, Kossoff's work has had a dedicated following and continues to do so today.  Both Kossoff and his friend Frank Auerbach have continued to develop their styles from the teachings of Bomberg and stand apart from other artists of the same generation.
