Jules Pascin

Jules Pascin was born in Bulgaria of Spanish and Italian parents. He was trained in Munich and Vienna where he worked as an illustrator. In 1905 he moved to Paris, in 1914 he moved to Great Britain then onto the United States of America. Back in Paris in 1920 he was part of the Montmatre circle, which included artists such as Chagall and Soutine painting portraits and biblical studies. On the opening day of his exhibition in 1930 at the Gallery Petit in Paris he committed Suicide.

He is best remembered for his superb draughtsmanship.
