Peter Blake R.A.

British

(1932 - present)

Peter Blake's earlier works strongly featured depictions of youth displaying their comics and badges and other symbols which held iconic precedence at the time.  From these early works Blake moved into developing pictures of Pop stars and Film stars, becoming a pop artist before the concept was born.  His next body of work concentrated on Wrestlers and strippers and progressed to more fictional characters born of an incredible imagination.

Blake is best known by the public for his revolutionary design for the cover of the Beatles 'Sergeant Pepper Lonely Hearts Club Band' Album.  Subsequently in later years he also did the cover for the hugely successful Paul Weller Album 'Stanley Road'.

A man who has been on the cutting edge of what is so good about modern contemporary art for so long Blake never ceases to surprise in the direction his work will take him next.
