John Thompson’s depiction of the Northern working man in various settings have been popular among collectors for many years. His ability to raise questions with his work has drawn people to his paintings and made them extremely sought after. The questions they raise such as who are these people and what are they doing never go answered as only Thompson knows the answer, with most figurative painters the work tells a story by itself but not in the case of Thompson, whose figure stand around as if waiting for some thing, they never journey or look like they are heading in any particular direction, yet the feeling they give is one of relaxation and even disposition. For these reason’s Thompson’s work will be collected for many years to come.
